Unlock is a new way to sell your home in Scotland. It has been introduced by the ESPC and a group of solicitor estate agents in Edinburgh.




Edinburgh's property market is competitive and good homes will sell quickly and often for large amounts over the asking price. This means that if you aren't leaving the city and need to sell your home, people are often hesitant about moving to a new home because they are worried they will sell their current home before finding a new perfect home. 

Even when you do find the perfect home for you and your family, you can be outbid. 

Unlock is a way to sell your property but gain time to find your next home.

How Does Unlock Work?

‘Unlock’ allows your solicitor estate agent to market your property for sale but with the added assurance that you will have time to find your next home. This is done by adding a clause to the missives that gives you the option to withdraw from the sale if you can’t find a new home you love and that meets your needs and requirements. The home buyer will be given a long date of entry, typically 6 months, which should give you time to find the right home.

Why Would A Buyer Be Happy With Unlock?

Hopefully, it will mean more new and exciting properties will become available to purchase. The buyer will then get time to save further for decorating and upgrading their new home. If they have a property to sell, it will also give them more time.
